Caoimhe Mc Neice, former student of Our Lady’s Bower, graduate of NCAD and finalist in the 2014 Persil Young Designer Competition will showcase her winning collection in Athlone for the first time at the Burgess Fashion showcase this October 8th.
Her ‘Warp’ collection explores the concept of a misleading online persona, how an identity can be reduced to pixels or squares on a screen. Garments to simple geometric shapes reflecting pixels, and allowed the body to warp and transform them from 2D to 3D.
The collection is composed of neutral colours – off-white, beige and silver – to maintain focus on the structure of the garments.
An off-white jersey is the base fabric in all the garments and is set off by contrasting textures – jersey and velvet, silk, coated cotton, taffeta and organdy, letting construction inform design, as opposed to design informing construction.
Pieces from her collection are currently on display in the designer Loft Market at Powercourt Townhouse, Dublin and were also featured in the July edition of IMAGE magazine.
The Burgess Fashion Showcase on October is in aid of Soroptimist Charities including Samaritans, St. Vincent de Paul and Midlands Simon Community to name a few.

Burgess Department store to host Charity Fashion Show
Burgess of Athlone, the Midlands Department store, will host a charity fashion show in the Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday 8th October at 8pm. Featuring local Irish fashion designer Caoimhe McNiece, who graduated from NCAD this summer, and a host of quality labels for men, women and children, it promises to be a night of glitz, glamour and fun – all in aid of a great cause.
All profits raised will be donated to the Soroptimists in Athlone, the local branch of the international charitable organisation. Locally the Soroptimists support and fundraise for The Samaritans, St. Vincent de Paul and Midlands Simon Community to name a few.
Supported by the Sheraton Hotel Athlone, Catwalk model agency, MoHH, McGorisks pharmacies, Meso Jewellery and Elliott opticians, the Burgess Charity Fashion show will include a selection of fabulous raffles prizes. With a best dressed lady prize also up for grabs it promises to be a night of super style.
Rosie Boles, Managing Director, Burgess Department store said, “New labels recently added to our womenswear collection including Monari, Andamio, Capri and Geisha will be modelled during the show, as well as firm favourites such as Joules, Darling, Gerry Weber, Betty Barclay, Olsen and Fran & Jane. It’s going to be a great night of fun – all in aid of a good cause.”
Shoes by Carl Scarpa and bags from Nica, Bulaggi, Costello and Costello, David Jones and Fiorelli will complete the looks.
Exclusive to Burgess’ menswear collection are Lee Cooper, Gant, Eden Park and Andre. Perennial brands that continue to prove extremely popular including Eterna, Bugatti, Strellson and Jacques Britt, as well as footwear by Barker and Rockport, will be included in the menswear fashion catwalk.
The stars of the show will no doubt be the children – fashions from Joules and Blue Seven will be incorporated in the show.
